WHO WE ARE
“For Kids Like Me” is a social and networking group for children with various special needs. The purpose of this group is to ensure our children have the opportunity to participate in activities geared to meet the needs of children with special needs without being shunned away or being made to feel uncomfortable.
Hello
My Name is Carol McCann -Orr
I am a native of Michigan. I received my formal education in Detroit. I went to Wayne State University where I earned my Bachelor’s Degree with a major in English and a double minor in African and Women’s Studies in 2011. I recently graduated from Wayne State University whereby I earned a Master’s in Educational Leadership.
I have worked within charter and public school settings for over ten years. I have gained experience in a variety of capacities. For the past three years, I have been working with autistic children as an Applied Behavior Technician.
I was motivated to start “For Kids Like Me” by my granddaughter and the students in her special needs classroom. I saw the need to create a social network aimed at providing children with fun outlets aimed at their specific needs.
FKLM GROWING STRONGER DAY BY DAY
For Kids Like Me has been growing over the last two years by leaps and bounds. We have successfully planned and organized events for children with special needs as well as those within our tutoring program. We currently have 20 students participating in the tutoring program and have anywhere from 15 to 25 children attending various events.
At this time For Kids Like Me, LLC have completed our first Popcorn Fundraiser for the upcoming Trunk or Treat. We were able to raise $185.00 with the help of those who contributed. For Kids Like Me would like to thank you all for believing in us. If you would like to donate to any upcoming events, please feel free to contact us.
I am excited to announce that FKLM is planning "The Old Vs New School Ball". This event will highlight games from the 80/90/2000's and we ask that everyone come dressed to impress. So Parents lets get ready to show our kids how things were done when we were their age. The Ball takes place in June 2023. We will keep you posted as we have the venue selected. If you have any suggestions, please don't hesitate to contact us. We always look forward to including ideas from parents and children.

Anniston has moved from an F in math to a D+ and everything else from a D to C... and Anthony's report card was sensational with A's and B's with improvements in reading and handwriting..... thx you so much for your love and hard work helping my babies.... we are forever grateful, and FKLM Family
